A wedding photographer or videographer's reputation highly depends on his talent and his previous works. It may be hard to prove yourself in the world of wedding films when you are a novice. However, here are some of the secrets revealed that could help you capture a good footage for the wedding event.


  • You can't go wrong with a good camcorder or good camera. Since technology continues to march on and march, it's advice that you would go grab the best or at least, a good recording media such as a camcorder or a camera with video recording support. It's highly advised that the said media must have a fluid head tripod, a remote microphone system and audio recorders for best results. Make sure it can shoot footage in HD since you want the best quality.
  • Backing up the audio is a must. The primary reason why you would need to back up the audio is because you'll need to record some of the most important bits in the audio. For instance, you would want to use audio recorders to back up the audio such as a wireless mic for instance which is great for recording the vows since it can be easily be concealed in the Groom's pocket.
  • Understanding the LUX Ratings is also advised. This is what you consider as the measurement of camera sensitivity. To simply sum this up, if the camera has a low LUX rating, it can produce better video footage in low light areas whereas the higher LUX rating cameras are better in illuminated locations. In the case of wedding videography; you would want a low LUX camera.
  • Attending the rehearsal is highly advised. Why? Through attending rehearsals, not only you can find the best shooting areas but also avoid lighting issues, view blockades and microphone placement problems once the big day arrives. It also gives you another opportunity to consult the couple.
  • The B-Roll Coverage helps. This is critical to the quality of your video and in order to get this footage; just make sure you have a tripod to take exterior shots of the venue. Every special touch in the venue that you notice; you must have them on film!
  • Audio Testing is highly advised prior to the ceremony. Why? This is the best way to avert the chances of a screwy audio quality which can ruin your excellent footage. 
  • Close-ups are also another thing for you to consider during the events of the wedding. Aside from the fact that you're giving emphasis on something in the wedding such as an important part; you're also making the images look sharper. Reserve the close-ups for the marriage vows and some close-ups of the parents.
  • Anticipate the action and always go with the flow of the events. This allows you to keep an eye out for anything occurring within the wedding that's worth giving your attention to.
  • Since special effects are no longer the flavor of the month in the world of Wedding Videography then it is a great idea for you to focus on capturing the event itself. After all, simplicity does have its own perks.
  • Last but not least is to finish the job on time. There's nothing better than finishing the video of the wedding that you've covered just in time for the people who attended in it to finally see it.
